This story about Thomas Paine was printed in New Jersey and Pennsylvania newspapers over eight weeks, beginning the second week of September 2007. A text version of each chapter is posted on this website and a PDF version of each chapter also is available  (see the table of contents).

The Serialized Story Guide for Teachers, Students and Families (see the table of contents) was written by Antonette Bomentre-Walter of the Burlington County Times (Willingboro, N.J.) and by Chris Yatchyshyn of the Bucks County Courier Times (Levittown, Pa.).

The New Jersey Press Foundation adapted Thomas Paine: An American Patriot from a manuscript by Mae Kramer Silver, president of the Thomas Paine Society of Bordentown, N.J. The right to publish the content of this eight-chapter story and her additional writing about Thomas Paine was purchased from Mrs. Silver by the New Jersey Press Foundation and the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association Foundation.

Graphic design of the chapters printed in newspapers was done by Terry Bellucci of The Morning Call (Allentown, Pa.).
